Introduction To Hot-Dip Galvanized Iron Wire

Jul 19, 2026 Leave a message

Hot-dip galvanized iron wire is a metal product manufactured from Q195 wire rod and 99.995% pure zinc through wire drawing followed by a hot-dip galvanizing process. The production process involves steps such as pickling, water rinsing, flux treatment, drying, high-temperature annealing, and hot-dip galvanizing at 440–460°C; the coating thickness is generally no less than 8 microns, with standard thicknesses capable of exceeding 300 microns.

The zinc coating weight ranges from 30 g/m² to 290 g/m², with a maximum of 300 g/m², in compliance with standards such as YB/T 5294-2019 ("Hot-dip galvanized low-carbon steel wire for general use"). Wire gauge specifications follow international systems such as SWG and BWG. Available in forms such as wire, rope, and mesh, the product serves various light and heavy industries, including construction, agriculture, chemical equipment, power transmission, highway guardrails, and livestock fencing. The diffusion layer formed by the hot-dip galvanizing process offers superior corrosion resistance compared to cold galvanizing, making it suitable for protection in harsh environments.
